Fondation Beyeler, Riehen

(4.4/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Fondation Beyeler operates the museum that owns and exhibits the art collection of the late Ernst and Hildy Beyler. The husband-and-wife couple amassed a large collection of modern classics during their lifetimes. A highlight of the museum is the collection of 23 pieces by Pablo Picasso; the museum also features works by Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, and Andy Warhol. The Beyelers created the foundation and museum to house their substantial art collection and provide public access to the pieces. The museum's glazed building sits nestled in Berowerpark, where special exhibits periodically take place. Fondation Beyeler is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Riehen Edition.

  • A remarkable private collection of great works of the classical modern. Very good you can track the development of Picasso and Mondrian to works. Monet water lilies have a separate room with view on a water lily pond. Everything equipped very tastefully and with noble materials. The staff is striking with exquisite courtesy. Download relaxation zones with books to the reading and stay a. A beautiful garden surrounds the Museum about three pages. The Museum entrance is very expensive with 28 Swiss francs / euro. What really bothers is that the Museum has not a single parking lot and the entire environment for residents parking available only. The closest parking lot was already full on a Tuesday morning at 11:30. Therefore, we wandered around quite some time. If you're just passing through, public transport is sometimes not an option.

  • Despite the long queue at the cashier to the Monet exhibition, thanks to the Museum Passport, we quickly came to the exhibition. Okay - that was to expect - it was crowded - but it felt still comfortable. The staff was okay! There was an ingenious children offer with guessing game.

  • Very functional and still stylish place! You are completely happy when the exhibition you visit answer your expectations. If not - you can always go around to see some nice things in the park
  • A must-see museum. The building itself is spectacular and your are sure to be impressed by any exposition they have. Whenever I'm in Basel I go without even checking the current exposition. I'm sure to be thrilled.
  • Easy to get to, fantastic grounds and building. The Calder exposition was excellent. It is however, expensive. But worth it.
  • Lovely grounds, impressive collection and terrific exhibits...but the harsh lighting does them no favors. A few of the staff are rather snooty.
  • Very nice exhibition, with some very famous artists. The building, designed by the famous architect Renzo Piano, is beautiful.
