  • An attraction that is on the other side of Zurich. The view of this island (which it isn't, since there's a road that connects to the Mainland), call immediately the attention and the desire to visit Rapperswil. There is a train from Zurich to Rapperswil, a trip that takes between 30 to 45 minutes. Are also made boat trips, but must inform themselves better with the tourist office. However, due to the constant cold, I think the train is a better option. Once there, you will encounter a very peculiar and medieval town, with its houses and streets, but also has features on your centre a collection of restaurants and shops that you can visit. This castle, in particular, in spite of not entering the same, is very well taken care of, as in everything in Rapperswil. Was built between 1220 and 1230. The landscape that provides over the mountains, over the Lake and the city itself is extremely pleasant. There are even seats at the top, next to the Castle, so you can enjoy quietly (IE, if the cold let). Can and should always walk, Rapperswil is not very big at all. A city that was a nice surprise on this visit to Switzerland, far from the confusion and embrace the calm and serenity that offers.

  • This is a small castle in the town Rapperswil. It has great views of the lake because it is perched up on a hill. We visited in November but would like to return in the summer.  more »
  • This castle is perhaps the most attractive place in the small town and in the Zurich area. Here it is worth arriving by train is less than half an hour, or sail on a boat. Harsh walls and towers lend a medieval castle. His story begins in the 13th century. There were different historical events: sheltering members of the City Council of Zurich and created a shadow government, plotted the so-called Zurich massacre. Zaiem behind them came most squads, and the castle was besieged, burned and destroyed the city. Later settled the Swiss know. The castle is very picturesque, especially from the Lake.

  • Great location for events and parties. The castle looms impressively over the ancient town and permits magnificent views from its rooms. The management and staff are very nice and go beyond what could be expected of them to satisfy their guests needs. Food and catering complete the experience.
  • One of the first places we visited in Rapperswil and where we always take our guests to when visiting. It’s nice to walk around and there is a play area there with a slide down the hill. Nice views of the lake and mountains
  • Lovely town perfect for some 6 hours or so. Walk around and just enjoy the scenery.
  • Great trip to see the Polaih museum. Very informative and beautiful landscape from the tower! A must!
  • Nice. Accessible from different sides. I like the tranquility of that place. Luckily no action going on. Beautiful views. Animals (Hirsch) nice to see. A toilet would be good. Maybe a lift for handicapped ppl or for a Kinderwagen would be perfect. Thanks!
