(4.8/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
The Val Roseg is a valley of the Swiss Alps, located on the north side of the Bernina Range in the canton of Graubünden (Engadin). The valley is drained by the Ova da Roseg, a tributary of the Flaz (Inn basin), at Pontresina. Most of the valley is part of an exclave of the municipality of Samedan. Only the bottom of Val Roseg lies in the municipality of Pontresina. The main locality, outside Pontresina on the bottom of the valley, is Roseg (1,999 m) at the end of the main road. Two mountain huts owned by the Swiss Alpine Club are located in the valley near the glaciers: the Coaz Hut (2,610 m) and the Tschierva Hut (2,584 m).The Val Roseg is surrounded by the highest mountains of Graubünden and Eastern Switzerland. The highest are Piz Bernina (4,049 m), Piz Scerscen (3,971 m) and Piz Roseg (3,937 m). The southern upper valley is heavily glaciated: the Roseg Glacier on the west side and the Tschierva Glacier on the east side. The lake Lej da Vadret, which formed at the bottom of the Roseg Glacier during the 20th century, is the largest of the valley.

  • It is part of the Italian canton of Switzerland the Grigioni. Beautiful valley close to the Engadine, rich rides and activities amidst a beautiful nature.

  • We walked the Valley round trip walk with my ten year old daughter up to the restaurant (closed) and it was awesome. The day certainly helped (clear skies and temperatures gradevolissime) despite being the Bridge of the dead, and the walk is an easy (a few hundreds of metres over a distance of about 7 km (+ 7 for return ...) so even strollers and prams are perfectly at ease. The road is wide and groomed and wishing you can go there or at least take a comes aboard horse-drawn carriages in complete comfort. The plain where the restaurant is spacious and sunny and has a breathtaking view: you can leisurely picnic or rest and/or play with the kids a confidence. The proximity of the stream then provides an infinite playground ... We were forced to stop at the restaurant (it takes a couple of hours each way by foot to whose wife and daughter have said stop ...), but it would be great to continue till the moraines and glacial Lake that lie ahead at the end of the Valley ... will mean that next time the way we make aboard the carriage in order to preserve strength for the tour at the foot of the moraine and to the return! In short, a nice and easy walk suitable for the whole family. Allow me one last thought to my father who loved to drive it in winter on skis ... Hi dad I know that with me and with your granddaughter this tour did it too ...

  • A hike shows the Valley from its most beautiful side in October through the Val Roseg. At the end of the Valley, the views of the glacier landscape opens up then!
