Nice collection of historical pieces going back to the earliest known settlements near the Lake of Murten. The museum is situated in the old town mill close to the Lake and below the town center and the city Wall. Highly recommend is also the documentary about the battle of Murten. The visit takes about an hour including watching the documentary.

While visiting Murten for a few days we decided to visit this wonderful museum on several floors, where at the end of the tour (starting from the top and going down to the ground floor) there is a lift to go up. It is one of the oldest museums in the Canton of Friborg, rich in history, informative, very clean with a very clean bathroom on the second floor. We also had the opportunity to visit the temporary exhibition of photographer Tomas Wüthrich, really beautiful photographs. The museum is located in the old town mill near the lake since 1978 under the city walls. I highly recommend going for a visit, the visit lasts about an hour.
