Lookout
Touch the sky by climbing to the top of Schilthorn, offering panoramic views of more than two hundred other Alpine summits. The cable car can take you from the small town of Murren to the top of this 2,970 m (9,744 ft) peak in just over half an hour, though you can also choose to hike up a series of narrow but well-marked paths. The summit features a observation platform and a panoramic restaurant, which revolves 360 degrees and rewards visitors with unobstructed views stretching all the way to the Black Forest in Germany. If you prefer to stay at lower altitudes, visit the ski areas located just above Murren. Use our Murren vacation planner to add Schilthorn and other attractions to your Murren vacation plans.

  • Excellent place to visit if there is sunny weather. One adult fare is 110 Euros. A good museum at top (Schilthorn) named as "James bond 007". There are 2 stop overs while going to the top which are good to visit as well because there are beautiful villages. One should take good jackets, umbrella and good comfortable joggers.
  • One of the top three attractions in the country, in my opinion (along with Jungfrau and the Matterhorn). The four different cable car rides are a pain, especially when you're crammed in with 79 other people like a can of sardines, but worth the effort. The James Bond experience is masterfully crafted and perfected in all the details of the interior design, sound, and visitor experience at Piz Gloria. Clearly a lot of thoughtfulness that went into the set-up. Don't miss the camera shutter sculpture outside where you can take a photo to mimic the beginning credits of most James Bond films.
  • Great views, and challenging slopes. Good opportunity for off piste as well. Check out the James Bond Experience and the restaurant from the movie. Also stop off at the thrill walk at the gondola switch point on the way up.
  • You don't deserve even a single star because the lines to get to the cable car as it is very crowded and there is not a good flow of traffic between tourists. I had to wait an hour just to hop on a cable car plus there is about 4 cable cars you have to get to reach the top. The Chinese were really annoying as they just barged into people despite a clear queue. Very disorganised and there is a strong lack of cable cars available. If you visit this place prepare by going to the gym before hand. I got into a scuffle with a European lad which though it was funny to hold up the line.
  • Just stunning views of the Swiss Alps. Totally worth the train, bus and 4 cable cars to get up to the top
