4.6/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web
Touch the sky by climbing to the top of Schilthorn, offering panoramic views of more than two hundred other Alpine summits. The cable car can take you from the small town of Murren to the top of this 2,970 m (9,744 ft) peak in just over half an hour, though you can also choose to hike up a series of narrow but well-marked paths. The summit features a observation platform and a panoramic restaurant, which revolves 360 degrees and rewards visitors with unobstructed views stretching all the way to the Black Forest in Germany. If you prefer to stay at lower altitudes, visit the ski areas located just above Murren. Use our Murren vacation planner to add Schilthorn and other attractions to your Murren vacation plans.

  • Maybe it's because we'd been to Jungfrau the day before which, in our opinion was far superior, but we weren't that jazzed about Schilthorn. In all fairness, in September, there wasn't much snow on th...  read more »
  • Rather than spend the whole day traveling to the Jungfrua, we elected to spend a half day on Schilthorn. With views all the way to Italy and Switzerland, a camera is of little use-the view is 360 degr...  read more »
  • If you gave a day, spend it taking a gondola to the top and hike down to the bottom! Worth every step, but please know hiking down takes time, effort, and good footwear.
  • Must see, the food is not amazing but it is very reasonably priced and well, can't beat the view! Alternatively eat one stop down from the top, great place too.
  • Comparing my trip up the Schilthorn Cable to the free Panorama and North Face hikes below, I did not see much difference. If I had the chance to go up again, I would pass. This is due to construction that is ongoing (summer 2016), the high cost, and the excessive 007 theme. The views of the Jungfrau are not much better than they are in the alpine meadows below. That said, the sky walk out onto the glass balcony was a thill, and the views are spectacular. If you do go, head up early. They discount the cable car fare for early birds.
  • We chose Schilthorn instead of Jungfrau for some friends who were visiting Switzerland on budget. On a clear day, it will not disappoint, the newly added sky walk is a nice little fun thing to do in-between. Also possibility of doing some sledging in Murren if there is good snow.
  • Breathtaking place!! I couldn't recommend it more! Amazing views and the restaurant is really nice for breakfast!
  • We decided to make the journey to the top of Schilthorn and we're really glad we did. The view is spectacular. The James Bond theme is a little overplayed and unnecessary. The remote and elevated view sells itself.
