Reichenbach Falls, Meiringen

(4.4/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Best known as the site of Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarty's final clash, Reichenbach Falls attracts fans of the Sherlock fiction series from all over the world. However, with a combined drop of 250 m (820 ft) and picturesque alpine setting, this spectacular series of waterfalls has a broad appeal. At their fullest, the waterfalls can produce a considerable spray, so be sure to wear shoes with good grip and bring a waterproof jacket. • attention, to Park, only parking quickly filled in season! very nice site to see! many eating places and to walk to the foot of the falls or to see them up close, everything is paid! (a few euros) Several trips by boat you are available, choose the one which is the closest near the falls and not those who you around unnecessarily on the Rhine... Up and down at the foot of the falls, you can also borrow free lift dogs allowed in the boats, no reservation needed

  • This is a beautiful falls that requires a lift up to where you can best view it. This is where the climbing starts and then it is up to you whether you want to go higher or not. I am an active senior ...  more »

  • Breathtaking and wonderful. I can't think of other words to describe it. You start the tour on a cogwheel, it was a bit misty, which made it more magical, and when you reach the fall itself you can feel it on your skin. When you arrive at the end of the travel you can take a little hike to reach the top of the waterfall and take beautiful pictures of the surrounding scenery. One of the best images of Switzerland I had so far.
  • Excellent time. Most magical on a beautiful sunny day. Switzerland at its best
  • If you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes (or Moriarty) this is a must see. You can either hike to the overlook or take a tram for a few Euro.
  • For those, who love Sherlock Holmes, a must-see place. Even for those who do not :)
  • Money is before waterfall: the power company which operates a hydropower system is using the water to make power sometimes there is almost no water in the waterfall even if there could be a lot
