Surrounded by three lakes, Rigi once inspired painter J.M.W. Turner to create a series of works studying its changing views and blue sunrises. Known to many as the "Queen of the Mountains," the Alpine massif features a towering summit 1,798 m (5,898 ft) above sea level. A year-round tourist destination served by one of Europe's oldest mountain railways, the idyllic region draws a growing number of nature lovers with an extensive network of walking trails and ski slopes. Gear up and tackle the mountain's hiking paths all the way to the summit, or sit back and enjoy the sweeping views on the cable car that departs from the small town of Kussnacht. Rigi is much easier to get to than Pilatus and has good facilities at the base of the cable car as well as the top. We took the ferry across to town and then walked the short way to the cable car and.... more »

This view is pretty awesome 😍, good experience up there!

This is the place for hikers and people who freak out on mountains. Also it has connectivity via train and gondola everywhere other than hiking routes. Nice place for skiing in snow days.

Beautiful view

Second time around and it never failed to amaze me. Awesome time as always and the train ride was as smooth as the first time (10 years ago). Love, love, love this place in winter with the snow covering the Bernese Alps and as you begin to ascend the views get better and better. The panoramic restaurants offers variety of delicious foods, hot/cold beverages, and souvenir shops have more to offer as well. The tunnels are still jaw dropping even for a second timer. Highly recommend for anyone to see this place even just for one time. Was this review …?
