Staubbach Fall, Lauterbrunnen

4.5
#3 of 12 in Things to do in Lauterbrunnen
Rumored to have been the inspiration for Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's poem, "Song of the Spirits over the Waters," Staubbach Fall stands nearly 300 m (984 ft) tall. The second-highest waterfall in the country, it is known for the spray of water in every direction due to the winds in the area. Walk the path up to the waterfall and go behind it for a view of the entire valley through the falls. Information boards offer the historical and scientific background of the area. Be sure to wear appropriate gear, as mist from the fall spreads far, and watch your step on the slippery paths. Make Staubbach Fall a centerpiece of your Lauterbrunnen vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Lauterbrunnen vacation planning website .

  • It's great to see a moment before the train transfer. The coolest thing than I thought but it is a long long. Take a great photo-op you eat falls under ㅋ ㅋ

  • One of the most beautiful and natural places to visit for. The view while you drive to the water falls is just amazing. The small falls are visible.throught the journey. The final falls may not be very large as one expects for a fall to be, but the scenery makes it so worth it and make you believe that it's the best suited for the terrain. You can also hike to a certain point at the falls, where you would be standing in a carved stone way from where water falls over you giving you the best experience possible. The view from this point is just mesmerising. Do carry a jacket as it will be very cold there. Also in summers it would be difficult to find a parking spot, so plan accordingly 😊👍
  • Mesmerizing! Spectacular! You don't want to leave this place. This is the highlight of Lauterbrunnen village. You can walk up near the falls and get behind it. Dont forget to visit this at night as well.
  • Beautiful and with a great cultural importance since both Goethe and Lord Byron wrote about this waterfall! 😀. It's a part of a valley of 72 waterfalls! A must when visiting Switzerland 🇨🇭
  • Amazing. One can also walk behind the waterfall
  • Nice water fall beside cliff~
