Sauvabelin Tower, Lausanne
(4.4/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
Ascend Sauvabelin Tower for superb views of the city and its picturesque backdrop. This wooden tower boasts a height of 35 m (115 ft), enabling visitors to see high above the trees of the surrounding forest. To reach the top, you will have to tackle 302 steps, most of which bear a plaque of local companies that sponsored the tower's construction in 2003. Although a sturdy handrail runs the entire length of the spiral staircase, it can be a daunting endeavor for those uncomfortable with heights. Make sure to bring your camera to snap the views of the city, Lake Leman, and the nearby mountains. To visit Sauvabelin Tower on your trip to Lausanne, use our Lausanne trip itinerary planner.

  • Nice tower in the middle of the wood of the Sauvabelin forest. It is a quite easy climb up and from there you will have a very nice view 360 degrees around. Lots of playground around for kids to have ...  more »
  • Loads of stairs to climb but worth doing to enjoy the view of Lausanne and suburbs. The Sauvabelin park is a nice place to go to enjoy the forest. Relaxing and fun for everyone
  • Even if we don't climb to the top of the Tower, the view from here is superb. Take the time to go down through the forest up to the Hermitage

  • Too bad the tower was closed when we went on a Sunday but from outside, it looked very commanding yet welcoming. It was a long walk going to this point from the train station, but the path going here was great for walking. The park had only a few visitors, mostly people walking their dogs. What struck is that the nearby lake that was supposed to be here was all dried up and was surrounded with construction work. It would've been a wonderful visit.
  • A nice place in Lausanne to have a panoramic view of the Alps with Geneva lake :) I loved the view during sunset :)
  • Excellent place to visit nice 360 degree view of the city and Alps and for free of cost, it is few minutes walk from the bus stop Lac Sauvabelin and bus 16 takes us there from the city. There is also Lake Sauvabelin close to the bus stop Lac Sauvabelin which is artificial lake. There is also a restaurant close by the lake.
  • It has a great view of the lake and city! Great workout getting to the top!
  • Great view. Especially at sunset. worth a visit
