(1,200+ reviews on the web)
Architectural Building Religious Site
To see an exquisite example of Gothic architecture, head to Cathedrale de Lausanne in the heart of the city's medieval Old Town. Built during the 12th and 13th centuries, the building replaced an earlier and much more modest church structure. Thanks to constant conservation efforts and a few careful restorations, the building appears today just as it did upon its completion in 1235. Step inside to see the world-famous organ, which took nearly a decade to design and consists of 7,000 pipes. Take a guided tour to learn more about the cathedral's architecture and history, and climb the tower for sweeping views over the city and its lake. • If you're in the general vicinity, I'd recommend a trip to the cathedral - even if a brief one. There are some seriously impressive stained glass windows along with the historic architecture.  more »
  • Right now (June 2017), this cathedral is under renovation so many parts are closed off. When everything is completed, I am sure that it will be a stunning sight to see and experience...to bad I am alr...  more »
  • This church was a beautiful church high up on the hill. It took some walking and time to get there. It was a beautiful view of the city from there however. The Chateau nearby was under reconstruction ...  more »

  • The organ music was ethereal! Do take the stairs up to the Bell tower, amazing 360 degree view from top. It's 5 CHF to go to the top, they accept EUR but only bills not coins.
  • Nice cathedral and you can get in and look around. From the outer place around the cathedral you have a nice view over part of the city. Close to the historical museum.
  • Beautiful Medieval Cathedral with simple interior but high ceilings and airy throughout. Plus entrance is free which is rare nowadays.
  • One of the first gothic cathedrals. Built between 1170-1235 when Lausanne was an important city for the papacy with its bishops. You may pay attention that the Church of Saint-François which looks similar uses a different type of conception. This cathedral is a living symbol of the artist connections between France and Savoy at that time.
  • Great views up the tower for 5 francs
