  • Visited this with teens who were alternately impressed with the quality of art work and imagination and turned off by the dark subject matter. Museum well laid out and very comprehensive.  more »
  • Yes, my wife and I enjoyed the Alien movies. Giger was clearly a talented artist with amazing but twisted imagination. I hadn’t appreciated until today though the soft pornographic theme that ran...  more »
  • I love the Alien movies so was keen to see the artwork relating to that, especially given the remote and unique location of the gallery. I didn’t love all of the art on display, but overall it was...  more »

  • This museum is in a lovely small town in a beautiful region. The museum itself is interesting but requires an open mind. It is worthwhile to see if you like this kind of art. I am not a fan but it I don't regret making the trip.
  • Fantastic. They have a selection from his private collection and many of my favorite pieces on display. The person at the desk (today) spoke both English and French, and was very helpful. You get a discount if you go to the castle first and bring your receipt. Was definitely worth the trip.
  • I am a Giger fan and this is the heartland of waking nightmares! His work goes much further than the Oscar for Alien 1978. This museum shows many sides of a creative genius and outsider. Check out Li, tributes to Samuel Beckett, the eponymous Alien props, furniture and conceptual designs. His personal collection on the top storey of the museum has pieces by Ernst Fuchs, among others. There are some great photos of Giger as a much younger man in the heart of counter culture. The museum staff are wonderful, if a bit overworked. My heartfelt thanks to Lauren for her assistance during my visit. She speaks excellent English! If you're a fan or just tickled by the dark seam of Giger's work, do not miss.
  • A truly appalling museum from a technical standpoint. The exhibits are poorly positioned; some of the largest pieces being crammed into narrow spaces where it is impossible to stand back to take it all in. Others are either shrouded in darkness, or have a God-awful red light shining on them, making it impossible to see any colour. Several of the exhibits are in very poor condition; the weird woman with tongues for nipples, has a hot spotlight just above it, and the paint has dried and fallen off. There aren't any written explainations about what you are looking at; certainly none offering any insight. Feels like some weirdo's personal, shed-based, art collection, rather than an official exhibit of a renown artist.
  • The museum is cool, though not all his work is here like covers for the bands (Celtic Frost, Carcass, Magma)...as other reviews said there is no further explanation about Giger, which for the rest of museums is standard to provide background and consequently the staff was ignorant about some of his pieces but is still worth the visit on your own. Also make sure to visit the bar which has "good"(among the area) prices for a beer and don't forget to visit the cemetery and pay respects.
