First, Grindelwald

4.8
#1 of 9 in Winter Sports in Canton of Bern
Use First as a starting point for many scenic hikes and ski trails in the Swiss Alps. Sitting above the mountain village of Grindelwald, the summit is quickly reachable by gondola railway and provides panoramic views of the surrounding snow-covered peaks. From here you have access to over 60 km (37 mi) of ski slopes and about 40 km (25 mi) of marked footpaths. Have a bite to eat at the on-site restaurant or relax on the sun terrace with seats for up to 300 people. Instead of hiking or taking the railway back to Grindelwald, descend on the 800 m (2,624 ft) zipline, which races down the mountain at speeds exceeding 80 km/h (50 mph). Put First on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Grindelwald travel planner.

We try to do the route hoping to see marmots with the girls. The truth is that the start of the path is very poorly signposted (rare in Switzerland, but it is fatal). After the panel to photograph you like "family Marmot", the road separates; one descends into a narrow road and another climbs into a wider track. There is no sign more than one indicating that it is a path, you already know that, and there is some fluorescent arrows painted on the ground indicating the path below... Error... That is not... Shortly after we began to suspect him because you reach a road... But it was late... When you reach the end of the trail of the marmot, we returned back to try to see them, instead of going to Grosse Scheidegg. We add quite a few meters to the route, and a few slopes that was trying to save my daughters, but in the end could see marmots. The road is beautiful, with patience, tranquility and binoculars marmots are, but I think that it would be desirable to improve the signs at that intersection. Agree several families disoriented at that point...

In a place difficult to differentiate what mountain is better and which worse. Chic look, a convenient lift. Hiking trails, Lake, rocks, views of the Jungfrau. Than Count differs from other is mountain attraction. Fly on a tightrope, a paraglider. take the tricycle ride and cycling. Any whim for your money, but it will make your day. Where else can you so have fun and with such views. More budgetary and buy a one way ticket and bring a personal bike-will be fun!
