#4 of 12 in Winter Sports in Canton of Bern
Hike, bike, or bus to Bussalp, a mountain resort with unparalleled views of its scenic Swiss surroundings. This area is a great destination in and of itself, but also makes a great jumping-off point for visiting other nearby attractions. Try a few specialties from the resort's diverse menu while you take in the panoramas of mountain ridges and the valley below, or take advantage of the snow with some outdoor activities. A great place for families, this site offers a 15 km (9 mi) long sledding run that stretches from Faulhorn to Grindelwald. • The whole evening Bussalp restaurant was a total bust. We had ordered meat flakes on the reservation, but hardly we have set ourselves was served already the fondue. When we intervened, it went forever until the Starter was finally ready and we had to wait on the fondue also very long. The amount of fondue was very scarce, we received the same amount for 4 and 5 persons was also. For a lookup, you must pay even extra. Because it took a long time in other tables, the next guest had waiting outside the restaurant in the cold. What there is available is a proper tourist rip off.

  • The tobogganing in Bussalp begins with a pleasant at first startup and winding bus tour - within 20 minutes from the bus station. On the Bussalp, you can borrow very agile sledging and tobogganing down first and foremost on the main sledge run city run. Please note that at the latest every hour several buses can accommodate one, with Hornsignalisation, where the coarser problem is not because that does not warrant the security would be, but the bus route and the toboggan run in large parts to the same route sharing and the snow turns in a very short time only in mud. It is to mention that 2 more relatively short toboggan on the top as an alternative can be selected to the mainline, these however soon again lead to the main line. The bus journey times are also a problem. The buses take up usually every hour again the sledgers, but must usually waiting times and bus again, rise of approximately 15 min be expected - not to mention that the sparse bus travel times result that either stressed out down must be geschlittelt or with an upper station of tobogganing fun already must terminate abruptly to not miss the connecting bus or in the worst case an hour the next bus waiting to be. Europe's largest toboggan "Big Pintenfritz" to serve as a highlight in the "sledging paradise" Grindelwald. 12, 5km of toboggan fun from Faulhorn down to the Valley where important to note is that the ascent incl. sled for visitors with normal condition at least 2.5 hours (rather 3 - 5 hours for slower) is and without Höhnenwanderungserfahrung by most visitors is perceived with sled as very strenuous. The most Schlittler reverse at the latest after half of way. Therefore is the "Big Pintenfritz" only for people who consciously and likes to take a mountain climb in attack. But even if the sledge route from Faulhorn is very nice and fun, we were within about 15 minutes on the Bussalp. In our opinion hardly worth the effort. All in all was offered for the nearly 60 francs on the Bussalp to little tobogganing to enjoy everything. Most of the time sit in a bus, waiting for a bus or walking up to Faulhorn. As last tip for all travellers to Grindelwald: Never drive away by car. Always take the train, not overpriced parking spaces are rare and the evening return trip ending the trip mostly in a 2-hour horror jam can be!

  • Take a yellow bus from the city center (cost chf 24 one way). The bus has a running commentary explaining the terrain and places near by. It is a 45 min ride uphill. There is a restaurant at bussalp a...  more »
