  • Modern museum dedicated to the Protestant Reformation, with exhibitions of the highest level accompanied by audiovisual and interactive technologies. Really interesting early examples of Bible printed with the rise of Protestantism, and really impressive dining room decorated with portraits of the main Protestant theorists on the dishes, engaged in an imaginary debate on the concept of predestination. In a couple rooms for temporary exhibitions that, in our case, concerned the history of the press at the time of Gutenberg.

  • The reform has influenced the history of Europe and the world... Besides the dramas of the refuge... With Calvin Geneva played an important part of this story. Unfortunately many countries history books obscure this part...

  • Great museum. I thought the videos and self guided tour were great additions (especially since everything was written in French). The tour makes it worthwhile for English speakers. The layout and exhibits were attractive and informative. I thought they did a good job of explaining the reformation and some of the key points without bias.
  • Lots of artifacts from the Reformation period upstairs but the highlight for me was exploring the reformation legacy in the downstairs exhibition. Fascinating. Well worth visiting if you have an interest in Reformation history.
  • Very informative. Had a lot to do with my family's history
  • So much history that so few people know anything about. They did a great job in displaying it
  • Educational and impressive. Very clear explanation on the religious reform, if you are interested, you can learn a great deal.

Where to stay in Geneva

In the elegant city of Geneva, a little shuteye doesn't come cheap. A number of relatively expensive hotels surround the lakefront, a prime location for visitors here; note that these tend to fill up for conferences and trade shows, so plan accordingly. More budget-minded travelers can look into options closer to the airport, which is a quick 15-minute ride on public transport into the city. While there a very few family-owned guesthouses and hotels, there are a handful of hostels--though these too are priced pretty steep. You can also find more affordable options in the outlying cities of Annemasse and Gaillard.
