For panoramic views over the city and its lake, climb the northern tower of Cathedrale de St-Pierre. Known mostly as the adopted home church of John Calvin (one of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation), the cathedral dates back to the 12th century, its architecture an eclectic mix of styles. The archaeological site beneath the cathedral, excavated over the last few years, reveals the city's rich history and explores the origins of Christianity in this part of Europe. Take the underground passage connecting the cathedral to the adjacent museum, dedicated to presenting the historical significance of the Reformation. Audio guides are available in English, German, and French. If you'd prefer a guided tour, check the website, where you'll also find information about upcoming live organ performances. Beautiful building in the old town area. You can go in and they also hold prayers. I understand for a small charge you can go up the towers. Well worth a visit. more »

Beautiful Cathedral inside and outside. You can go to the top and take some beautiful pictures and see the whole Geneva from the top. I believe you can go to anytime of the year. Also some days on Thursday night they play classical music inside. Favorite place to walk around in old town Geneva

The cathedral is beautiful with an interesting history. Spend the five francs to climb the tower - 100% worth every penny. Amazing views and an interesting look at the structure behind the beautiful facades. Both towers are interesting for different reasons. This is a must do in Geneva.

A very best view over the city. I highly recommend to take your time to go and walk all the way through it. Since the smell of the all wood until the lookout at the top, the bells and the sections of the lookout. After the Cathedral you can go to a underground museum, just next the stairs (looking straight to the Cathedral take the underground stairs at right) Parking: not exactly but there are close places to park. Restrooms: there are at the Cathedral. Souvenirs: There is a store inside. Handicap accessible: Yes for walking but not exactly for wheels, the are lot of stairs to take and there were not access adapted to go to the lookout.

Beautiful cathedral, but once I went inside I was accosted by a lady with a clipboard who did not speak only gestured to put my personal details and give money. She wouldn't say what for. All I had in my pocket was a couple euros which I tried to offer her but she refused. And then I turned and said "it's money isn't it?" And then I agreed to just leave. As I walked away I decided to check it out anyway. She wasn't exactly going to stop me. I can confirm it's a cathedral. Nice organ.

Nice little cathedral in the middle of old town Geneva. You can go inside and see some nice organs and stained glass windows. €5 and you can climb up the south and north towers to look over Geneva
