Were several times in the Westside. The parking garage is a bit complicated for it is very cheap (3 h 0.60 cents). Shopping selection is alright, if also slightly more expensive than at other places. The food mile consists of various chains such as McDonald's, subway, lollipop and some other topics restaurants. Unfortunately, the last cinema visit was a complete mess. Although we have purchased the tickets online and paid, you had to stand all over again. Especially at the dining area (each must be through there) waiting times were very long. Unfortunately, it was nowhere written that the 3D also purchased should have known glasses (we thought that the glasses will be at the hall entrance) thus, we had to stand a second time for the food. The snacks were more expensive (nachos with 2 sauces and 1 drinks 13.-) shopping we come back, rather less cinema.

The Westside is a great Mall with many shops, restaurants and a medium-sized market of Migros. In addition, a movie theater with over 10 halls as well as a pool and Spa is located in the same building. A large part of the retail space is occupied by the globe. With a range of dresses to toys and perfume. Sunrise, Bayard fashion, toy box and also the GameStop are other tenants. Of course the Migros specialty shops such as sports XXX, M-electronic or Qualipet. There is also still a Denner and the mobile area in the basement. The choices for dining go by fast food (McDonald's, subway) to sushi, Japanese ramen or Italian at SPIGA. Complemented by a Cha Cha and of course Migros restaurant. Yet the Holliday Inn hotel with a bar and Brasserie is built on the Westside. In the Westside, you can spend a whole day so readily.

Where to stay in Bern

In historic Bern, the bulk of the accommodation offerings are confined to the peninsula, where the Old Town or "Altstadt" is located. Staying here gives you the convenience of being within walking distance to everything--which will come in handy in this generally car-free area. Throughout the Old Town you'll find a number of mid-range three-star hotels complete with their original 19th-century characteristics. A couple hostels and pensions round out the options here, though these tend to be a bit more expensive than one might expect. Outside of the Old Town, there are a few hotels with cheaper rates, though you compromise on convenience and atmosphere. The city also boasts a few stunning four- and five-star hotels, should your budget be forgiving.
