Rose Garden (Rosengarten), Bern
(4.5/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
To see and learn about hundreds of different rose varieties in a tranquil setting, head to Rose Garden (Rosengarten), situated on a hilltop overlooking the capital city's medieval Old Town. A public park since 1913, this site served as a cemetery in the 19th century. Today, the manicured lawns and formal gardens draw both visiting tourists and picnicking locals. In addition to roses, the neat flowerbeds display 30 different types of rhododendrons and 200 kinds of irises. Take a stroll along the footpaths to see the rose varieties named after Ingrid Bergman, Maria Callas, Christopher Columbus, and Cleopatra. Walk here from the Old Town, or take the public bus from the city's main train station. Our Bern trip builder makes visiting Rose Garden (Rosengarten) and other Bern attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • The city can be seen from above. Meanwhile looks much resting people braked half way but the roses are wonderful. There's all those colors! There is that walking enough, but is a nice activity and free!

  • I went to mid-December. Of course, not blooming rose flower. However, it is a great place to take the Bern Old Town photo which is slightly elevated.

  • We visit it at night and the city views are spectacular. Very nice. Park for children is great.
