  • Because I can report it anywhere else, I write it here. The Museum is currently still being modified and will be opened again on the 19.8.2017 with a party. The previous exhibitions were very good, especially suitable for visiting with children. I look forward to the opening

  • The old Poulsen transmitter was extremely interesting; but again the place is for geeks or people with an interest in communication

  • Redone and reopened in 2017. A tad smaller than I expected but there is still a lot to see, to wonder at and to learn from. Also it was made sure that most kids would have a good time on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Priced accordingly.
  • A MUST!! I was dubious that the subject matter could be presented in a compelling manner. How wrong was I. This is an absolutely fascinating museum with a fantastic exhibit. It is presented in such a fund and interesting way and is so intereactive that you could spend the entire day there.
  • Fantastic place filled with many interesting and sometimes interactive exhibits. Write a message on paper, put it into a container and send it through a tube using pressurised air. In a booth there are clips from movies in which there's miscommunication. This is all very funny and has a clear connection to communication. These are also larger exhibits, like a perfectly restaurated post carriage or the car used in a legendary robbery. But many exhibits are put there behind glass without apparent intent, like on a scrapyard. For example the first eletronic computer built at the ETH or the large punch card calculator donated by the Swiss federal railways. They just stand there with few lines of text that do not even explain what these machines were used for or what their predecessors and their successors were. Without telling the purpose of these artefacts it's pointless to put them on display. I know there are audio-guides, but I despise those things. If this is a museum for communication, it should be able to find a more innovative and enjoyable way of communicating with its audience. And the staff also seemed to be exhausted from trying to explain all this to the visiting masses on a rainy Sunday. As you enter the museum, it was unclear to me how far in which direction it extends. After wandering on the ground floor room for a long time I realized there's also things in the two lower floors. This was almost the larger part of the museum! And I'm also not sure if there wasn't some wing of the building on the ground floor I missed. So it would be very important to have a transparent 3D model of the exhibitions right at the entrance!
  • Very Well planned with the visinory from past to future of Kommunication
  • I really loved this museum when I was a kid. We went there a few times and it always was a great adventure. I think its a great museum for kids.

Where to stay in Bern

In historic Bern, the bulk of the accommodation offerings are confined to the peninsula, where the Old Town or "Altstadt" is located. Staying here gives you the convenience of being within walking distance to everything--which will come in handy in this generally car-free area. Throughout the Old Town you'll find a number of mid-range three-star hotels complete with their original 19th-century characteristics. A couple hostels and pensions round out the options here, though these tend to be a bit more expensive than one might expect. Outside of the Old Town, there are a few hotels with cheaper rates, though you compromise on convenience and atmosphere. The city also boasts a few stunning four- and five-star hotels, should your budget be forgiving.
