  • In my opinion, this is the best museum in Switzerland to understand the country's history and culture. Very well organized and full of information. If you have to choose, prioritize this one over the Swiss National Museum in Zurich. They also hold an excellent exposition about Albert Einstein. I would reserve at least 2h to the visit. Take your student card with you, as they give discounts.
  • Magnificent place. I was on Einstein's exhibition, great. They put a lot a though in it.
  • I just loved it! Really wonderful made! I was stunned! I didn't know that he was a father of three children, escaped from a Nazi concentration camp and that his family was so genius too!
  • The place is beautiful, there are lockers at the entrance, the expositions has a lot of space to walk and frequents places to sit and rest. Very important because one can spend hours in a museum. The staff is very helpful and speak fluent English very recommended, visit even if you only have an hour.
  • If you are fan of Einsteen then this is the place for you. Everything from his birth till end of life is shown here in innovative form. It displays photos, handwritten notes, articles , bed etc used by him. Books are also available for sale.

Where to stay in Bern

In historic Bern, the bulk of the accommodation offerings are confined to the peninsula, where the Old Town or "Altstadt" is located. Staying here gives you the convenience of being within walking distance to everything--which will come in handy in this generally car-free area. Throughout the Old Town you'll find a number of mid-range three-star hotels complete with their original 19th-century characteristics. A couple hostels and pensions round out the options here, though these tend to be a bit more expensive than one might expect. Outside of the Old Town, there are a few hotels with cheaper rates, though you compromise on convenience and atmosphere. The city also boasts a few stunning four- and five-star hotels, should your budget be forgiving.
