  • Very nice zoo. Clean and well kept. Nice aquarium. Open seven days a week. Lots of animals have little ones. Kids loved it!  more »
  • Quite overpriced for what it is. We were utterly disappointed. They advertize the cats and elephants everywhere, yet we saw no big cats (ie no lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards), there were no...  more »
  • Spent an afternoon here. This is a great way to spend some time in Basel particularly with kids. Saw lots of animals which I had not seen before and I really liked the format and facilities...  more »

  • The layout is really nice and we were able to see a variety of animals. Many animals were inside because it was December and kind of chilly. A few of the indoor spaces provided plenty of room for my toddler and his cousins to run around and play. My only complaint is that the indoor elephant enclosure seemed much too small for the 3 elephants housed there.
  • I was very impressed by how the Basel zoo looks like. This is how a zoo should look like. Great condition for the animal. I saw many of the zoos in my country Romania and none can rise to the level of this one in Basel. Congratulations to all who have been involved in organizing the zoo in Basel. Ypu did a great job.
  • Nice place to go with kids. Occasionally they have pony riding between 2:30PM and 4PM for 1 euro (2 small rounds). I wish this would happen more regularly. Monkey house is nice and big, as is the elephant house. Given that this is actually a family friendly place, I am surprised by a lot of smoking people.
  • Very unique small zoo. Great design. It doesn’t look like a typical zoo, more like a park. You can see all birds flying through the zoo and big bird nest on the top of trees Pretty nice. Don’t expect many animals there, but it gives kids great time. They love all cute animals there. Especially penguins.
  • Basel Zoo is a good destination for a family trip. It's not big but quite cosy. I like very much the part of vivarium with a huge variety of different fish from seas and rivers. Take your time to enjoy this place.
