  • The Museum of cultures is the most important Ethnological Museum of in Switzerland and is more than impressive in comparison to Europe. It is somewhat tucked away on beautiful Cathedral Square, the entrance is via one of the beautifully restored houses. Behind the modern museum building, which houses parts of the collection and the temporary exhibitions on four floors. The exhibits are very well marked, the lighting optimally. Core piece is certainly the about 16 metres high Kulthaus of the Abelam/Papua New Guinea, the ideal can be seen from the higher floors. Also the back of the ground floor of can be seen very well. The Museum has a nice Museum Shop, which, however, could offer a more extensive range of books. Next to the Museum there is a small nice café where you get nice things.

  • As part of the museums night (pay one entrance fee and access that night almost all museums of Baesl) I went to explore this place. Its much bigger then I thought. So plan at least 1-2 hours for your ...  more »
  • There is much to see. Each floor has completely different topics. In my opinion worth a visit, even if it is not the classic art. I find the House structurally very successful. It's also great to look out the Windows and see the roofs of the old town.

  • Fascinating and engaging (interactive!) exhibits. Currently (Jan 2016) hosting exhibits from an art museum which is closed for renovation. Wish I could have stayed longer.
  • Very nice museum by Herzog & DeMeuron, inside an old house. The entry is a bit expensive for the expositions it holds, although seeing just the building sometmes is worth it.
  • Schönes museum
  • Outside is nice, there are clearly big ways but it is... empty. And boring. Very fine pieces but without any effort to tell a story, very empty and only contemplative, you learn almost nothing. Everything is in German, even if there are small booklets paper read (not practical) and an audio guide (- 5), but for a single exhibition. 16. - for this, do not go less than enjoy a guided visit, very few impressive parts if not connoisseurs.

  • Wanted to make a friend from Japan a pleasure and got him invited to the Museum of cultures. Unfortunately, that was fully in the pants. I thought already before a year that only tinker at work, but unfortunately are these lay still muddle through in this museum. You bring nothing to the series.
