Gotlands Museum, Visby
Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
A mix of art, history, culture and archaeological Gotland and Visby pieces make up Gotlands Museum, founded in 1875. The art collection consists of painting and crafts from the 1800s to modern times, often local or national. You'll explore three floors of Viking and medieval artifacts, gold and silver treasures found on the island, paintings by the well-known Richard Bergh, and an exhibit on the Battle of Gotland. Learn about 11th-century rune stones, 9,000-year-old skeletons, a local love story, and a summary of executions. See Gotlands Museum and all Visby has to offer by arranging your trip with our Visby vacation planner.

Good with English texts everywhere. 1.5 hour was not enough.show original

A little taffligt.show original

Want to see Viking rune stones? This is the place to be. They have some fantastic ones. Also most of the museum is hands on, so children or easily bored adults will have a great time.
It is great to see as a once off.
