Uppsala Domkyrka, Uppsala

(4.4/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
See the tallest cathedral in Scandinavia and admire the twin Gothic spires of Uppsala Domkyrka. Situated between Uppsala University and River Fyris, the cathedral stands nearly 122 m (400 ft) tall. You will recognize the 13th-century structure by its rose-hued exterior. Tour the site, originally designed by French architects in the French-Gothic style, and view its impressive features, including its treasury museum and chapels. Though the structure was damaged in a fire in the 18th century, the church today has been completed restored to its former glory. • The church is huge and beautiful. You'll find two kings buried inside. It's a shame it belongs to the controversal Swedish state church.
  • Beautiful church with a long history. Nicely on a Sunday stroll around with the Cathedral in the background. Would be good with information sheets outside as you learn the history about the area.

  • Gorgeous architecture. You can only appreciate the beautiful details and feel tiny. Gustav Vasa is buried here.
  • Beautiful church and a nice café next doors with fresh salads and good coffee. Royal graves inside the church. Guided tours in many different languages are offered.
  • Beautiful architecture, wonderful cathedral! Must visit the tallest church in the Nordic countries.
  • Largest cathedral in Northern Europe. Amazing history.
  • Above average for a church. Tomb of Gustav Vasa is worth a visir
