Uppsala Domkyrka, Uppsala

(4.4/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
See the tallest cathedral in Scandinavia and admire the twin Gothic spires of Uppsala Domkyrka. Situated between Uppsala University and River Fyris, the cathedral stands nearly 122 m (400 ft) tall. You will recognize the 13th-century structure by its rose-hued exterior. Tour the site, originally designed by French architects in the French-Gothic style, and view its impressive features, including its treasury museum and chapels. Though the structure was damaged in a fire in the 18th century, the church today has been completed restored to its former glory. • The beautiful Cathedral, when we visited in Saturday morning, worked the body issued the magical music. Considered the biggest collection in Sweden. Indeed, looks very grandly

  • If you have planned a stay of several days in Stockholm, you should definitely take a trip to Uppsala (just 30 minutes by train from the capital). Strolling belle vie, the Park and the Botanical Garden of this college town, you'll immediately notice the black spires of the Cathedral, which dominates the city from any perspective. Already facing the external architecture is gasps; upon entering the church there's plenty to see! Details of all kinds, different styles, bizarre contaminations (models of spaceships hanging from the aisles, statues that seem true, disturbing and dark objects, sacred and profane mingle). During my travels I hate visiting churches, when this happens usually lasts a few minutes. Inside the Domkyrka I got lost for an hour. Extraordinary.

  • The Church is part of Sweden's history and should be visited for this reason, if for no other reason. Important people from the Swedish Empire's past is buried here and the links to Uppsala and its history makes it more interesting: Gustav Vasa, Johan III, Catherine Jagellon, Emmanuel Swedenborg ... Beautiful churches and the possibility of guided tours for those who want!

  • Gorgeous architecture. You can only appreciate the beautiful details and feel tiny. Gustav Vasa is buried here.
  • Beautiful church and a nice café next doors with fresh salads and good coffee. Royal graves inside the church. Guided tours in many different languages are offered.
  • Beautiful architecture, wonderful cathedral! Must visit the tallest church in the Nordic countries.
  • Largest cathedral in Northern Europe. Amazing history.
  • Above average for a church. Tomb of Gustav Vasa is worth a visir
