Fjarilshuset (Butterfly House), Stockholm
Categories: Gardens, Nature & Parks, Outdoor Activities
Enter Stockholm's tropical oasis and admire some of nature's most radiant colors at Fjarilshuset (Butterfly House). Located inside Haga Park, the lush indoor heaven of exotic greenery, bright flowers, and warm streams is home to more than 700 different species of butterflies flying freely. The temperature inside the habitat is regulated throughout the year and allows its delicate residents to flourish even in Sweden's cold climate. Even though it's located outside Stockholm city-center, the park is easily reached by car or public transportation. Humidity inside the habitat is kept at high levels, which benefits the butterflies, but might be unpleasant for sensitive visitors. Quite far from the city center, so take under consideration it can take about half an hour to get there. The butterflies are pretty amazing and there is a hatching spot where you can see the cocoons. ... read more »

We went here because my wife really likes butterflies. She liked what she saw, but really wished there was more too it than there was. We only ended up seeing a few different types, and there was not a lot of stuff to read about them. They did have a decent amount of them when we went, so you did not have to go looking for them, but there were plenty that were also there but difficult to spot if you were not looking for them. Included in the price is some other exhibits with some small ground birds, and a few tanks of fish, including 1 giant tank with several sharks inside (black tip and reef shark). Overall it was interesting, but it just seemed really over priced for what they offered. I could see this being a lot more appealing if you had young kids with you, but that was not the case for us.
Came for the butterflies and stayed for the shark tank. The museum is small, so don't expect a huge exposition. Everything is well kept and the animals seem happy. It's great for bringing kids. If you don't have kids I suggest you to come around 12, because most of the parents with kids are eating at the adjoining restaurant at this time.
You pay for parking, you pay 145kr per person, 70kr for children, and some extra if you breathe. And the exibition is not a big a deal for the price. There should be more butterflies. Actually you see more fish, frogs and turtles than butterflies. The good was that you can see the most poisonous frog in the world and some sharks. Should cost half or offer an improved version of the current.
Fun place especially in the winter. Beautiful butterflies!
Trevligt men lite slitet. Svårt att hitta entréen. Hajdelen som är nyast är fräschast.
