Fjarilshuset (Butterfly House), Stockholm

(2.5/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
Enter Stockholm's tropical oasis and admire some of nature's most radiant colors at Fjarilshuset (Butterfly House). Located inside Haga Park, the lush indoor heaven of exotic greenery, bright flowers, and warm streams is home to more than 700 different species of butterflies flying freely. The temperature inside the habitat is regulated throughout the year and allows its delicate residents to flourish even in Sweden's cold climate. Even though it's located outside Stockholm city-center, the park is easily reached by car or public transportation. Humidity inside the habitat is kept at high levels, which benefits the butterflies, but might be unpleasant for sensitive visitors. • Really nice place to go to, whether you are 5 or 55. With or without children. Comfortable temperature and exotic environment does place extra nice to go to when in Stockholm strikes.

  • Rainforest and "wild animals" made the day for children. Butterflies, fish and various birds also increased knowledge of the 5-year-olds.

  • A sad little windy Monday in January we went to the Butterfly House in Haga in Solna. We got there after a walk from the parking lot. Took about 5 minutes. Outside the House, it was approximately 15 baby carriages ... and yet it had just opened! Oh well we came in, paid o began our hike. First there was the winter garden, a cool Dept. with Cyprinids in a big bathtub. The next room had much vegetation o little else exciting for children. Then came what I liked the most ... the butterflies. So nice, so beautiful butterflies in many different colors o sizes. The largest we met was a white big as a Palm. NOTE you must tread carefully because they sit on the ground where you go. Unfortunately found a dead butterfly, which had received a whack of plastic doors that separates the rooms. The last room was all about the ocean with sharks, among others. . A good video was also shown that are worth a visit. The reason it's not 5 stars is the cafe "errors". It was good sandwiches o good coffee but the environment itself in the Cafe was a bit boring. Bare o a bit messy. But ... it was a nice trip.

  • Offers a nice walk in a subtropical environment for you and your children. Lots of interesting animals. The shark aquarium is awsome!
  • Came for the butterflies and stayed for the shark tank. The museum is small, so don't expect a huge exposition. Everything is well kept and the animals seem happy. It's great for bringing kids. If you don't have kids I suggest you to come around 12, because most of the parents with kids are eating at the adjoining restaurant at this time.
  • Very disappointing! You pay for the parking and beware I had a fine of 300 kr for only 5 mins delay! Afterwards the admission entry fees is not worth at all what you see! Very few butterflies which can be counted... a number of reptiles most of them were fake! It was extremely humid inside. A few tanks of fishes and a shark. It is not a recommendation for those who have visited butterfly houses and aquariums.
  • We went here because my wife really likes butterflies. She liked what she saw, but really wished there was more too it than there was. We only ended up seeing a few different types, and there was not a lot of stuff to read about them. They did have a decent amount of them when we went, so you did not have to go looking for them, but there were plenty that were also there but difficult to spot if you were not looking for them. Included in the price is some other exhibits with some small ground birds, and a few tanks of fish, including 1 giant tank with several sharks inside (black tip and reef shark). Overall it was interesting, but it just seemed really over priced for what they offered. I could see this being a lot more appealing if you had young kids with you, but that was not the case for us.
  • We had so much fun. This place is great. Family friendly, with a cafe outside and lots of souvenirs. The museum is fun and time flies inside.
