(4.5/5 based on 25+ reviews on the web)
Hanö is an island off Listerlandet peninsula, western Blekinge, Sweden.Between 1810 and 1812 the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom used the island as its base during its operations in the Baltic Sea. The "English Seaman's Graveyard" is situated on the island, and still today British warships visit the island to pay tribute to the fifteen sailors who rest there. In 1972 the Royal Navy constructed a big wooden cross on the spot of the graveyard which is visible several miles out to sea.

  • Bean bag. The lighthouse. Deer. The port. English Cemetery. Beds. Restaurant. Cliffs. Kite mark. The cave. Picnic. Swimming opportunities. Walks. Museum. Boats. Yes, the list of Hanö can be endless. A small cosy island with many opportunities for entertainment. A must to go to if you are staying in Western Blekinge.

  • One of the places to which you want to go back! Tourists from all over Europe, and everyone will find something for themselves. An interesting cemetery and stone. You can sail a cruise ferry from the Mainland from Nogersund or loaned to the port with a small boat. As in the whole of Sweden all speak English.

  • Access is by ferry from Nogersund. The island is car-free, which is very pleasant. You can then explore the island via different routes. Exciting, the search proved after the living there dam deer herd, which we could actually track down. The search has pleasure also the teenagers after the impact of the Dragon below the lighthouse according to legend, although turned out the search as a circular walk in the rock sea below the lighthouse. The view of the sea in particular from the Lighthouse is very impressive. Unfortunately the only restaurant in the harbour is not recommended, instead of typical food, fast food is predominantly offered.
