Pater Noster, is a Swedish lighthouse, and the name of a small archipelago in Bohuslän on the Swedish west coast.HistoryThere were plans to build a lighthouse on the island in the 1750s but a light was instead placed on the fortification of Carlsten in Marstrand. That light was replaced by Pater Noster in 1868. The lighthouse is of engineer Nils Gustaf von Heidenstam's typical iron design.Pater Noster originally had a large first order Fresnel lens in its lantern and the flame originally ran on colza oil. A paraffin lamp was installed in 1887. The lighouse was automated in 1964 and the large lens replaced by a small 4th order lens. In 1977 Pater Noster lighthouse was deactivated in favor of the modern lighthouse Hätteberget placed in open water. Pater Noster started to fall out of repair as the salt water made the iron construction rusty and weak.In 2002 a large restoration project began. The lighthouse was transported to the town of Uddevalla, and later to Gothenburg. The tower was very rusty and overall in bad condition and restoration took much longer than originally planned, mostly because of insufficient funding. But many local companies and persons volunteered to complete the work. In the summer of 2007 the lighthouse was shipped back to Hamneskär. In the autumn it was reactivated. To plan Marstrand vacation without wasting time, ask Inspirock to design an itinerary.

Tog oss dit i vår 5.5 m båt och det gick bra då det bara blåste 5m/s. Finns ca 10 båtplatser runt om. Det är en karg ö med Heidenstamfyr och några hus. Man kan boka huset och komma hit med RIBbåt. You can book a House and get hit with the Rib. No café, if anybody had believed it would have been nice though. Toan was igenbommad. There is a ' museum ' in a shed with some easy-to-read info about the island and the life before. Spectacular view of Kattegat. Do not know if it is sometimes possible to go up in the lighthouse. It could be at least a couple of years ago. Today, however, it was locked. The lighthouse on Hamnskär not knusslar. What you see is what you get. No tourist trap.
En sen eftermiddag åkte nästan 10 personer från hamnen på Koön ut till Pater Nostet med Ribbåt. Fick först en rundtur på ön, därefter gick vi upp i fyren och åt baguetter som arrangören hade ordnat. First got a tour of the island, then we went up in the lighthouse and ate baguettes as organizer had arranged. It was a wonderful adventure that all estimated. Heartily recommended. Andrew
Var här och besökte fyren och åt en skaldjursbuffé allt var toppen och en upplevelse jag verkligen kan rekommendera. more »Was here and visited the lighthouse and ate a seafood buffet breakfast and an experience I can really recommend.
Beautiful lighthouse building, situated on a small island about 3 nautical miles NW of Marstrand. You can buy a ticket and go up to the top of the lighthouse buildings and enjoy the view. The area is also popular for fishing and general sunbathing and swimming.
Lovely place with friendly staff.
