Nature / Park
Stroll below a romantic canopy of trees at Kungsparken, a sprawling 19th-century park. The 8.4 hectare (21 acre) site was inhabited until the 1660s but then cleared to make way for the neighboring military protection. In 1869-1870 the park was built, complete with a cast-iron fountain at the center, plus expansive flower beds, playgrounds, and a windmill. The verdant paths are home to 120 different species of trees, as well as local wildlife. Pack a snack or a picnic blanket for a relaxing retreat. • Very nice for a sunny day! Lots of oaths around, and some boats and kayaks on the waterways. There are also public toilets and some picturesque gardens with views to the castle. There's a small cafe-bar with outdoor seating too, though visitors may find this quite expensive.
