Millesgarden, Lidingo

4.5
#4 of 71 in Parks in Stockholm County
Located in the studio and home of sculptor Carl Milles, Millesgarden brings art and nature together. This art museum and sculpture garden provides an oasis for art lovers. Carl Milles and his wife (and fellow artist) Olga Milles acquired the property in 1906 and used it to showcase not just their own works but art from around the world. Tour their house and studio and view the couple's antiques. See international art exhibited alongside Milles' works, including his sculpture "God's Hand," which is on permanent display. • We were here for about 90 minutes on our way to the overnight ferry to Helsinki. It was chilly and rainy which was not the best way to see the statue park. The guide did extremely well under the circu...  more »
  • Millesgården is fantastic! I am there a couple of times a year, usually with husband and our children who are accustomed visitors since birth. They love the environment and especially the hilly terrain invites you to play. Millegården is child-friendly but not a traditional child-friendly place. Which is nice, I think! This time I was there with friends and unfortunately we were not planning enough but had lunch at the country shop. Despite the experience of flaws in cooking, we took chance. No shadow over the gallery but requirements should be placed on their partner you share names with. Poorly prepared dishes combined with high prices leave a bitter aftertaste. Not so you would like to leave beautiful Millesgården.

  • A magical oasis to suit most people. Here you can see exciting exhibitions, shop in the well-stocked shop, enjoy the view & entranced by the magical park. The park is surely the strongest reason to visit Millesgården. Just as beautiful a sunny summer day as a crunchy cold winter day.

  • It was just so relaxing and the artwork was just so so cool. It was a fun trip and I would definetely go there again. Definitely recommend going with friends, there is even a cafe to go to
  • A wonderful find just outside of Stockholm, just a 15 minute car ride or a 25 minute train ride. The scuptural gardens are peaceful and provide a scenic water view. You could easily spend an afternoon walking around and enjoy "fika" at the cafe.
  • Spectacular experience! Entrance fee: 150Kr Adult and FREE for under 18 When you have paid each of you will get a "m" sticker which you can put on a piece of paper on the wall when you finish... You will see a gallery of artistic painting and when you walk outside you will experienced some great art sculptures. There is over 100 different sculptures! The museum includes lots of different photo opportunities so make sure you bring a camera! There is a restaurant at the far side of the park. There are many steps so some parts are not suitable for wheelchair users. Toilet: Free to use clean, unisex. Great experience and glad I went to see it!
  • Though a little bit tricky to get to it’s worth a visit if the exhibition is good.
  • Beautiful, but we went there on the hottest day of the year! Still wonderful.
