Millesgården, Lidingo
(4.3/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Located in the studio and home of sculptor Carl Milles, Millesgården brings art and nature together. This art museum and sculpture garden provides an oasis for art lovers. Carl Milles and his wife (and fellow artist) Olga Milles acquired the property in 1906 and used it to showcase not just their own works but art from around the world. Tour their house and studio and view the couple's antiques. See international art exhibited alongside Milles' works, including his sculpture "God's Hand," which is on permanent display. Put Millesgården into our Lidingo trip generator and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • Have been to Stockholm many times but never to Millesgarden. We enjoyed the Tove Janssen exhibition but it's really the house and gardens that are the star attraction. It reminds me of a mix of Hearst...  more »

  • We visited the Millesgarden Museum while it was Josef Frank exhibition. Everything was excellent and perfectly what fine exhibition statues, I recommend this experience.

  • Wonderful! Even if you don't care for art, the place itself is scenic enough to warrant a visit. Note: There is also a Carl Milles fountain/statue next to Konserthuset and a huge statue at Nacka Strand that was made following one of his designs.
  • I love visiting artist's homes for not only do they contain their art works but they also showcase the artist's taste in furniture and architecture. Milles' home was so serene influenced by Italian villas, containing peaceful fountains that look out onto the Stockholm archipelago.
  • Great environment with both fascinating art and view. The resturant is over priced and the accessibility poor.
  • Good place for a stroll, a bit too dull for me because it's just a ton of sculptures so you need the literature to understand whats what. When we were there they had a glass show (showing all types of things made of glass) so that was cool. Won't rush back...
  • An incredible museum. One of my favorite places to visit in Sweden.
