  • Straight up in the Kumlaforest is a staircase of 427 steps, it is one of Europe's longest wooden staircases. At the top the stairs you will be standing at a piece of history from World war two. When the war was going on, it was important to get the oil, and they was determend to get it at any costs. They burnt something called ' alum shale ' up untill 1966 to get oil and when they stopped the asches from it was a big hill that still burns even if it is more then 50 years ago! When you're on top of the hill you can still see smoke coming out! It's definitelly worth the climbing up the steps, at the top the view is beautifull and every year famous artist are showing their artwork! This Art exhibition "art on the high" gives you not only a great view of art it improves your physique to! Exercise, history and art in one! Straight up up for skogshögen extends the 167 metre high staircase and 427 steps later, you find yourself above an old historical industrial heritage from the second world war. During the war, oil would be produced at any price, of which Kvarntorpshöjden were used to produce and burn alum shale, ashes from the alum shale gathered on high and reached to end an overall amount of 35 million cubic metres, and although they stopped burning 1966 so burning ash heap still and you can see smoke squirt out with warning signs next to! At the top there is an art exhibition that varies, some works of art are retained while others are replaced, well worth the extra fitness to get included!

  • A memory from WWII production of gasoline. Here we are 157 metres above sea level and the view over Närkeslätten is adorable.

  • The staircase felt in the legs, but it is worth going up but there is another way if you can't go down the stairs.
