Sofiero Slott, Helsingborg

(4.6/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Peek into the intimate life of Swedish royalty at Sofiero Slott, one of the family's country mansions. Originally built in 1865, the home was expanded to its current size in 1876 when King Oscar II came into power. In 1905 the castle was given as a wedding gift to the king's grandson, future King Gustaf VI Adolf, who loved the castle so much he donated it to the general public upon his death. Take a guided tour or use an audio guide to explore the upstairs of the castle with rooms decorated in period furnishings, or stop by the lower level, which now houses a cafe. The castle is best-known for its stunning rhododendron gardens featuring 500 different species. Take a picnic on the sprawling lawns and soak in the greenery. • A well maintained old castle with wonderful surroundings and also a lot of botanical trees, bushes and plants. Many time during season also live music performed on the lawn in front of main building. ...  more »
  • Castle Park is probably at its best when rhododenron flowers in May-June. Then you can walk between huge rhododendron bushes in gaudy colors, up and down in the hollows. Where it feels more boisterous while the Park closest to the castle is more traditional. In the castle there is a lot worth seeing exhibition, where the rooms are decorated like it used to. And you get a history lesson! In the castle restaurant you can eat tasty in a wonderful authentic Castle. To spend at least half a day in Sofiero is recommended.
