#1 of 14 in Outdoors in Gotland
Named in 2012 as one of National Geographic's “25 Wonders of the World," Blue Lagoon has evolved from its infancy as a reservoir of geothermal runoff into a world of geothermal wonder.

The unique properties of its waters provide not only an enchanting lagoon experience, but also the patented, active ingredients in Blue Lagoon skin care: silica, algae, and minerals.

Blue Lagoon is located in a sprawling, 800 year old lava field in the heart of the Reykjanes Peninsula – a UNESCO Geopark. Just 20 minutes from Keflavík International Airport and 50 minutes from Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon is simultaneously remote and easily accessible.
Bla Lagunen is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Farosund Edition.

  • Different place, cool bathing, and nature. Unfortunately we had rainy weather that day, but fun to watch anyway.

  • With no specific expectations we drove towards the "Blue Lagoon" on the north west coast of Gotland, knowing it was an old quarry made into a "beach". It was late August, air on the crisp side, but wi...  more »
  • I visited the Blue Lagoon several times during my vacation stay on Northern Gotland. Incredibly beautiful water and perfect bottom, quickly downhill. Feels very clean. There are bigger parking if you drive all the way in. See toilet. Takes approximately 15 minutes to run from Fårösund.

  • Awesome place to enjoy like fish in the water.
  • Great spot for swimming in an old abandoned limestone quarry. The water gets deep pretty immediately, so perhaps not appropriate for small children. But for children and adults who like to jump from the cliffs, this is paradise. Recommend to bring your thongs as the stones on the edges can be experienced as something sharp. During high season it can be fully in the parking lot which is Valet and then apply "a car, a car in". Toilet is available, as well as garbage station, in high season there is also a simple ice cream kiosk. The site has no running fresh water.

  • Fin swimming, warmer water than in the sea. Though not as child-friendly as it gets deep quickly and there is no direct sand to play in for the smaller, unlike a "normal" beach. Good to know in advance is that parking costs in cash and that there is no kiosk for ice cream or coffee here.

  • Nice beach and clear waters. Not very kid friendly. There is a float bridge far out and it is deep water. A few small sandy beaches otherwise stone and rocks.
