Falu Mine, Falun
Categories: Tourist Spots, Mines
Visit Falu Mine and learn how one of the biggest workshops in Swedish history used to work, both above and below the ground. For 12 centuries the enormous mine was one of Europe's biggest suppliers of copper. Above ground you can admire the gigantic pit, tour the mining facilities, see the museum collection that tells the story of the mine, and take part in various activities. The underground tour to a depth greater than 60 m (200 ft) allows you to get a clear idea of what working in these conditions must have been like. Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and dress warmly, because the temperature at this depth is often just a fraction above freezing. Above and underground tours are charged separately and it's advisable to make reservations ahead of time. Who is should definitely visit the disused copper mine in Falun, Sweden. Guided tours are offered at certain times. There you can buy also the typical Sweden-red color in buckets :-).show original

Amazing cultural heritage. I really wish the tour would be deeper though, because when they tell you the cave goes 3 times deeper then the furthest you are going it just leaves you wanting more.
A nice place to visit with some very interesting history and amazing imagery.
A great museum with a lovely tour through the mine.
Very cool, the surrounding grounds also. Informative guide, careful for older, less stable people. It is very dark, and you will get your shoes mucked up!!!
