Waterkant (Riverside Boulevard), Paramaribo

(2.7/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Stoll along under the shade of almond trees and see the 19th-century colonial style houses at Waterkant (Riverside Boulevard). Watch the commerce of ships in the harbor and cars moving along the distant bridge in one of the oldest parts of Paramaribo. Have a sip of Surinamese beer and grab some local dishes, such as bami (meat noodles) or kip sate (skewered meat), from the typical Indonesian warungs (small family restaurants), which remain open until late at night. The nearby attractions include the main square and presidential palace. Put Waterkant (Riverside Boulevard) and other Paramaribo attractions into our Paramaribo travel itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • I myself would never have noticed, but between the Flat bridge (bus stop PG buses) and Broki you'll find Riverside Kitchen where you still can eat authentic Creole Surinamese. At the front a bar where you can see all types of people come across, on the backside a covered terrace where comfortable music. In many places is eating there too there dominate certain herbs or salt, but that is not the case here, giving you all the ingredients actually tastes. I combine eating with a stroll along the many beautiful sights on the waterfront. Also found it particularly true considering that many French people generally come to eat there.

  • Absolutely make it fair for tourism or shopping or even play a few parts in a casino... The boulevard is particularly lively and alive and make a turn in the market remains indispensable...

  • Waterkant-one of the main streets of Paramaribo. From independence Sq. (former Government Sq., Oranjeplein) parallel to the Bank of the Suriname River. Passing through the Central market and ends at the intersection: Saramaccastraat in Waterfront line. There are important buildings as the Corner House (on left of independence Sq.), there are large colonial houses, the Central Bank of Suriname, the Waag and the Lutheran Church. The area between the independence Sq. and Imperial Street is preserved colonial architecture. The other side of the street with small kiosks, food and beverage stalls, with benches to sit among trees being a popular destination for tourists or tour on Sundays.
