Peperpot Nature Park, Paramaribo

3.8
#3 of 11 in Parks in Suriname
Explore the jungle just minutes from the city at Peperpot Nature Park. The nature trail winds through dense tropical forest and welcomes walkers and bike riders along its approximately 3 km (1.86 mi) length. Watch for inhabitants like monkeys, sloths, butterflies, lizards, and many species of birds. Informational signage lines the trail, informing visitors about the many different types of jungle flora and fauna that can be found. Come prepared with bug spray, as the tropical climate also supports a plethora of mosquitos. • Rating: unprecedented experience without hours/days travel-nothing to sneeze at hiking, biking, nature experience and investigate history-all in 1 day trip. From Paramaribo in by the Bosjebrug on and at the foot to Peperpot. Be prepared on the road structure and the hiking route from the Plantation Center to the roundabout in the East-West link (splitting to Nieuw Amsterdam-Albina-Peperpot-Paramaribo). Remember: you must if you are going hiking also back! Especially for the hiking area, the famous naturalist Frits van Throne described a trail and which certainly still at Vaco bookstores is available. The development on Peperpot by a small port along the Suriname River and single residence facilities for tourists is still in its infancy. Earn a donation this beautiful nature scenery (Park?) certainly in their struggle to move forward.

  • In addition to all the other plantations is Peperpot also very special. Look around what we as Dutch people have left behind. And Yes we are not been used s_mmman. But by reclaiming land from the sea, this area is dry and very fruitful. nwij are on the bike with a guide through this area. Monkeys seen turtles and also varaanen. Special is that here and there showing parts accessible becoming. But very interesting were the coffee beds and cocoa trees. Our guide knew very much about the current population at Peperpot and around to Macias. For us it was the tour more than just the old plantations

Where to stay in Paramaribo

Paramaribo is packed with guesthouses, which make this town an extremely appealing destination for backpackers. The least expensive option in town, some of these establishments offer very basic rooms and shared restrooms without hot water--ask about on-site facilities before checking in. Dozens of mid-range hotels provide a more suitable option for families with kids, business travelers, and anyone else looking for a few more perks. If you're planning to stay longer, consider renting a furnished apartment in a residential neighborhood.
