  • The fort is being repaired but it is nice to be able to actually walk through it and touch the walls and cannons. Great place for the kids to explore.
  • A long steep rocky hike to the top but well worth the breath taking view. Located at Divi Little Bay Resort. Take bottled water for the hike. Would not recommend for those that get easily winded, have...  read more »
  • This is an awesome destination for a stunning view over the bay. It can be reached on foot, it's free and if you are lucky you can even watch pelicans nesting nearby. This is one of the absolute highlights of the island and might somewhat of an insider tip. On the day we went there we met not a single person on that spot. It doesn't get any better than this.
  • A smaller fort compared to the ones in Puerto Rico but still incredible to see.
  • They have to do the restoration of this place. Right now in 2016 it's still an abandoned site with piles of garbage all around.
  • Fort Amsterdam was the Dutch fort located at the peninsula west of Great Bay in Philipsburg, Dutch Sint Maarten. Liked the remains of this fort are touristically almost undeveloped. Only A few signs with. Information It's hard to believe that no more attençtion is paid to an historic site that is so important in the history of Sint Maarten. A not-too-strenuous climb, from the port in town to the top of the hill, where the fort is. Beautiful views in all directions once you get there. Lots of history. Check out the pictures. Itt's aFree attraction. Also I loved sitting on some of the benches and watching ships depart harbor at sunset. Amazing.
  • Not worth the wait, something special! Entrance to the Fort is through the hotel, feel free to go. Pitching ruins, cacti and not bad looking.
