Marigot Market, Marigot

(260 reviews on the web)
Flea Market
At Marigot Market, peruse the cornucopia of goods that the local vendors have to offer. Described as a lively melting pot of colors, smells, and sounds, the market features everything from clothing, jewelry, and pottery to spices, fruits, vegetables, meats, and fish. Witness how the locals and foreigners alike zealously barter under the Caribbean sun. Amid the sea of kiosks and stalls, a stone statue and a huge painted fresco commemorate all black female market sellers. Note that the moment cruise ships sail into the harbor, goods usually become generic and variety diminishes. • Although there were some local craftspeople most of the stuff was the same old stuff you see at markets everywhere. Its worth a look if you need a tshirt or souvenirs. We also went to the spice market...  more »
  • In the Centre of Marigot, the French Capital of the island of Saint Martin, next to the ferry terminal, is the craft fair. Traditional when it comes to a tourist town is a place to buy local goods and souvenirs. Several tents with enough variety and reasonable prices. More in the shops near the ferry terminal.

  • It's the same old same old. The usual assortment of tshirts, printed bags, handicrafts and coverups. Skip it and shop at the beach.  more »

  • Fun open air market with tourist tat but also nice fabrics and plenty of hats to keep the sun off. Some good fishmongers, where we got two excellent big eye red snappers, which we grilled on the boat, rubbed with island spices we got from another vendor.
  • There's a nice gazebo but the vendors charge prices specially inflated for tourists.
  • Many vendors, but 90% of them are selling the same Tchotchkes.
  • Open air and interesting in a beautiful location
  • Good variety of products
