Island National Park
Explore Pigeon Island National Park to discover an area rich in history and natural beauty. This island was artificially connected to the mainland in the 1970s and has since become a landmark of St. Lucia. Rich in history and occupied by Amerindians, pirates, and the British over the centuries, the island still houses numerous remains of forts, barracks, and other military buildings. Climb to the highest points within the park for panoramic views, look for scenic spots for a picnic, or use one of two sandy beaches to swim, snorkel, and lounge on the tranquil waterfront. • We visited Pigeon Island for this history along with a decent hike. The views were very nice during our hike. Was a bit scary outside on the public beach, but safe once inside the park.  more »

  • A very long drive from Soufriere over some very mountainous terrain. No doubt the drive influenced the rating. Nevertheless, it's a small park and is interesting from a historical point. The restaurant was excellent. The walk to Fort Rodney was to long for us so we opted out but other party members said the views were panoramic. If your accommodations are up north you should definitely visit.
  • Great place to visit. Steeped in centuries of history and stunning views all round
  • Beautiful park with restaurants ant two nice small private beaches!
  • Beautiful Views. Nice hike if you like heat and hills.
  • A relatively well run park by the Saint Lucia National Trust. The hikes to the two peaks are well laid out but still require some physical capability to traverse. The area seems relatively well preserved with many of the ancient stone buildings still in a good condition, with one exception hidden behind protective barriers. All the others you are able to walk through and get up close and personal. The museum/interactive centre is closed and has been for quite some time, but there are other interesting activities available in the park such as Snuba, for an additional cost. The beaches are pretty relaxed as well, with little likelihood of of being harassed while sunbathing or swimming. There are 2 restaurants with good but not extensive dining options, both with different styles, and both with fully stocked bars capable of mixing cocktails.
