Pigeon Island National Park, St. Lucia
Categories: Islands, National Parks, Nature & Parks
Explore Pigeon Island National Park to discover an area rich in history and natural beauty. This island was artificially connected to the mainland in the 1970s and has since become a landmark of St. Lucia. Rich in history and occupied by Amerindians, pirates, and the British over the centuries, the island still houses numerous remains of forts, barracks, and other military buildings. Climb to the highest points within the park for panoramic views, look for scenic spots for a picnic, or use one of two sandy beaches to swim, snorkel, and lounge on the tranquil waterfront. A lovely walk to the fort. The hill is quite a hike in flip-flops; We really didn't think that through! But once at the fort it was all totally worthwhile, the views over Rodney Bay and Martinique are... read more »
Visited Pigeon Island and the beach. Ate lunch at the restaurant just as it started to rain. Short showers and beautiful scenery.

Very cool place to check out some of the local history for the area. There are some structures still intact but mostly it's structural ruins. There are signs all over the area explaining some of the history behind what you're seeing and walking through as well as tips on things to look for. We went mostly to hike up both peaks and it was a relatively quick hike. The higher peak was a bit more challenging and I wouldn't advise people attempt it unless you have on shoes. There is no hand rail and it can be steep and rocky but well worth the medium effort for the photos and views you get from atop. Keep in mind it's a $7 USD fee per person to get in.
Great day visit. Home up the small hill for a great view. Bring a picnic to eat at the relaxed beach on your way back.
Real very cool place to have party along the seashore. Pigeon island national park is known for is signal peak, good beach and during jazz festival time spot in lucia near by pigeon beach. It is also only location between wave full Atlantic ocean and silent Caribbean sea.
This is an awesome venue. Famous for St Lucia Jazz and arts Festival celebrated over a 10days event during the month of May every year!
Nice historic park with beautiful views. Close to the capital and walking distance from one of the Sandals Resorts.
