Quill/Boven National Park serves as a protected nature reserve that attracts visitors for its biodiversity and the dormant Quill volcano. You'll find a number of hiking trails of varying difficulty in the park. Watch for bright colored lizards and iguanas and trees with umbrella-shaped crowns, and listen to the sounds of hummingbirds echoing through the thick forest. One main highlight of the site visiting the rainforest inside the crater with trees reaching 40 m (131 ft). For a complete experience, book a guided hike. Wow. What a neat experience, but very difficult. We were so glad to have Charlie, the local guide, take us as we would have definitely gotten lost. It was 20$/person to have the guide but worth it. He...  more »

The rise of the quill is one of the ballads that offers Statia, the difficulty of the first part is very important and everyone can do it without problems especially in the dry season. The difficulties appear once arrived at the edge of the crater, the descent into the crater is rather risky and there are ropes to help the hiker, one goes down on big blocks of stone that can very quickly be slippery for little it had rained to be well shod and very careful attention. The Interior of the crater is a small world of its own and is not devoid of botanical interest. It is possible to climb still higher on the edges of the crater, a way to reach a point of view that allows to enjoy the whole island and the other from the edge of the crater which overlooks St Kitts, there yet to reach the point of view the trail is steep and must be well shod, but the view is offered reward for all the efforts made. We can't go around the top. There is the possibility to do around the crater a half height with passage to the botanical garden level but the ride lasts 5 hours and I did not. The tourist is supposed to pay an admission fee to the National Park, which can be purchased in 3-4 different locations (including the Gin house) for $ 15, its not if presentation controls "Rangers" will pay a fine as warns the sign located at the start of the hiking path
