Inspirock Rating:
3/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web
Nestled in a secluded cove and protected by a coral reef, Unawatuna Beach resembles a huge saltwater wave pool. The combination of golden sand and laidback atmosphere appeals to visitors from distant corners of the world, who come here to rent a beach shack, grab a cocktail, and watch the waves roll by--and swim and snorkel, of course. Visitors can also rent kayaks and jet skies, or go on a guided fishing trip. Amenities include a number of bars, restaurants, and shops. • We are with her companion rested at the end of February at Sun & Sea, which is at the very end of the beach, great location (permanent Ocean breath-the sound of the waves!), but to swim in front of the hotel, especially in the afternoon, it was not very: waves and current. We went for two weeks every day early in the morning (6-30) and in the evening at sunset on the main beach swim (about 40 min), it was a delight: the water is clear, warm, practically no waves, and if there were, then such broad, swing-one pleasure of sailing! As we floated near the shore, not the impression was the almost complete lack of other swimmers! This is one of the best beaches for swimming (we were in Cuba, Maldives, Phi Phi Island, Bali, Philippines, Fukuoka, Cyprus etc.)!

  • Great place, beaches are fantastic and wonderful restaurants and atmosphere. Good for suffers as well.
  • Much quieter than Mirissa, it is a beautiful beach lined with restaurants. Very nice family.
