Jungle Beach, Unawatuna

3.4
Enjoy a swim at Jungle Beach, a secluded stretch of sand with gentle, calm waters. To access the beach, you need to drive or hike up to the Peace Pagoda, then climb down the steps through the jungle vegetation, meaning the beach remains less crowded than its nearby counterparts. Pick a sunbed near the beach bar, sunbathe, and have a refreshing drink, or drift further away to a quieter, more deserted part of the beach for some rest and relaxation. • Visit white jungle beach first, it is bigger and less crowded than jungle beach. Worth the walk but is small and crowded.  more »
  • On this beach early in the morning we met a large monitor lizard, which came swimming in a small pond with fish. After dinner, the family visited Beach monkeys who amused by holidaymakers. I'd like to be in this place.

  • One of the best places to visit in Galle. Like unawatuna there are no restaurants or hotels. There is one sea food restaurant but prices are bit high compared to outside the beach. This place is crowd...  more »

  • Need to do a mini hike to reach the beach downside but it's all worth it. The beach is very beautiful, untouched and serene. There are a couple of hotels on the beach side where they serve drinks.
  • The walk down to jungle beach is awesome. But the beach itself is a bit of a let down. It is completely covered in dead coral which is quite sad to see if I'm honest. There were people there clearing it up but I don't see it being completely clear any time soon I mean it was totally white with broken coral everywhere. It wasn't pleasant to get into the water, it hurt. And the drinks where ridiculously overpriced.
  • Best beach I've been to so far. hella unique my friends
  • Beautiful clean beach ...good for relaxing weekend
  • Great scenery, shallows for snorkelling and swimming. No corals near the shore. Glass-bottomed boat trips don't worth the price, and there is almost nothing to see in those trips. Take your own snorkel rather than hiring them locally. Good food from Jungle Beach Inn and polite vendor, but enormously late in service. No water offered unless asked for. And then, the water is separately billed.
