Jungle Beach, Unawatuna

3.4
Enjoy a swim at Jungle Beach, a secluded stretch of sand with gentle, calm waters. To access the beach, you need to drive or hike up to the Peace Pagoda, then climb down the steps through the jungle vegetation, meaning the beach remains less crowded than its nearby counterparts. Pick a sunbed near the beach bar, sunbathe, and have a refreshing drink, or drift further away to a quieter, more deserted part of the beach for some rest and relaxation. • Definitely worth a visit if in Unawatuna, as the beach is lovely and relatively secluded, without tons of restaurants like Unawatuna main beach. There is a small beach bar with drinks and some food ch...  more »
  • The descent to the beach is relatively good and even the Bay itself makes a good photo. However, it is much too full and the water invites not just for bathing. There were not enough beds, in the shade, it's still full and the beach is very smoggy. Also the monkey was not unfortunately to see.

  • I absolutely loved it here! There is a short, tricky, (in flip flops) walk down, through jungle, from the road, to the beach. This was fun though because the trees were filled with monkeys. The beach ...  more »

  • Great scenery, shallows for snorkelling and swimming. No corals near the shore. Glass-bottomed boat trips don't worth the price, and there is almost nothing to see in those trips. Take your own snorkel rather than hiring them locally. Good food from Jungle Beach Inn and polite vendor, but enormously late in service. No water offered unless asked for. And then, the water is separately billed.
  • Great place to bath in sea without huge waves. There are two places to bath and upper one is better. You can park your vehicles in the near houses and it will cost rs. 100. You can get bath from normal water in the same place and it will cost rs. 40 per person.
  • Superb place to spend the weekend with family and friends. Awesome beach with amazing view.
  • I'll be leaving lots and lots of memories here with my brother T2. 21st November 2017 is my very first time visiting this unbelievable beach with a beautiful entrance from jungle high up in the mountains. This trip will never ever forget in my life. Me and my friend we never expect to get a huge storm and we were stuck in the jungle near the beach when the storm came with damn huge wind and thunder. Rather then that the place is really nice but some people keeps throwing empty cane, bottles and plastic bags on the area where we go for swimming and inside the rocks where we can sit and relax. I'm giving 5* to here because it leaves me thousands of memories and also the water is beautiful.
  • Nice place to visit with kids.. a little hike from the place where you park the vehicles. But worth the hassle. Leave at least an hour for the kids to enjoy the place but better leave before dark because hike back is not lit.
