Pidurangala Rock, Sigiriya
(4.9/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web)
Hike up Pidurangala Rock, a geological feature offering extensive views of the verdant hilly landscape and an atmosphere of seclusion and contemplation. Standing opposite a larger, more frequented hill, the rock possesses a different charm to its touristy brother, with a quiet and peaceful Buddhist temple at its foot, and a giant reclining Buddha statue in a secluded cave part way up. The ascent takes around half an hour, with a medium difficulty scramble over some boulders near the top, so wear suitable footwear. The views from the top make the exertion worthwhile. • In beautiful countryside which you should cycle through as Fahrradrour, the entrance to the stairs on the Pidurangala - lies only 5 Fahradminuten from the entrance of the Sigiriya rock. The stairs starts in a Buddhist temple, therefore women should cover the knee... (Cloth to the rent 150 rupees). Admission is even (500 rupees pP) the ascent is steep as Sigiriya, but here you have to climb a bit. Above, one has the best views of Sigiriya and sees the Mencshenmasse is up there pushing. Otherwise, you have exactly the same views of the landscape breathtaking. The remains of the fortifications and the historical remnants here just missing. I found it super in the evening light on the Pidurangala to stand and in the morning light on the Sigiriya. So, the overnight at Sigiriya worth 100%

  • Climb up the stone with a child of two years. It is a fun and easy to ride. At the end there is to "climb" a little, but nothing impossible. The views are spectacular, since in addition to viewing all the jungle, seen also the stone of Sigiriya. Highly recommended, because the price is less than a third as the input of other stone.

  • All easy climb, not 1000. If you are within 15 minutes by walk you up. On the other hand, the view is super. You see a lot of Woods, but the wind and the height anyway for a powerful feeling. If you pay 500 rhp entrance per person. And you have views of lions rock. Where people in one by one behind each other ... Better climb so this rock!

  • Highly recommended! Don't go to the Lions rock, go here. You save the 30$ pP on Lions rock and can take awesome pictures with Lions rock on them. 3$ donation for monks asked at the entrance, but fully worth the money!
  • Completely worth the visit. I skipped the lion's rock and went here. Beautiful, Serene, Scenic, Peaceful spot. Monks will guide you to the top for the best view of Lion's rock for a nominal tip.
  • A good walk, an ancient temple, the ticket is almost free compared to Sigirilla and you'll get truly excellent views in the top. It's a must.
  • It's a great view of sri Lanka. It's easy climbing.
  • Absolutely cracker experience! Best time for photos of Sigirya is definitely sunrise. A bit of a challenging climb though, so travel light.
