Small turtle care where turtles of different types and in different sizes. This is intended to eventually be deported. Not very big but thereby exactly what more intimate. Passionate explanation of the Guide, clearly involved in his work. Definitely stop by.

There are many sea turtle hatcheries along this stretch in Sri Lanka and we decided to visit this one. They charge LKR 500 per head as entry fee. Once you are inside you are assigned a guide who will ...  more »

Great place, and great work to help keeping alife turtles in Sri Lanka. They are amateurs and they need support.

I am happy for the turtles, this is a perfect system: first egs are found by fisherman and sold to the farm. The farm makes sure the small turtles are a bit more strong when by evening after some days they are released into the sea. All stages they try to get little bit of money from the tourist (eg. Release ) which is really logic because this is the only way to safe the eggs from the poachers. The goal is to make sure new born ones get safe and back into the wild, which really occurs in this way. And dont forget, government helps but can not fund everything, so tourism this way is needed to safe more turtles

Very knowledgeable and clearly dedicated to the turtles; reasonable price of $20USD to release some babies into the water; money goes to support the project. Some negative reviews state that it's a money scam for the family but I think it's a terrific place that helps save the eggs from predators on the beach and rehabilitates injured turtles brought in by fishermen. And why shouldn't they support themselves through this? I'll go back before I leave.

Nice project for the baby turtles and a very good explanation by the guide. Unfortunately, the pools seems to small for the big turtles. If you are on the way please visit, but it is not worth to travel an extra hour for this.

Not worthy, you will be expecting to see at least educational info, and a good place for turtles to hatch and be released to the see, and keep the ills in a recovery area. They got a tank with young turtles, that they were for at least 2 months ready to be released in the water , add to that several tanks of less than 0.4 m3 (14 cf) for three or more turtles, some longer than 60 cm (2 ft) or more. Three in particular never stop to hit itself against the walls of their cage, specially chocking those younger little ones that should be released long time ago. They got exploited turtles for the solely purpose to catch the money of the tourist. If your propose is learn, or to help the turtles, or do anything ecological sensitive, don't do the same mistake we did (we got a lot of explanations to give to our kids when they asked why we were there)
