World's End, Nuwara Eliya

(4.1/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
In the cloud-covered heights of the Horton Plains National Park, World's End offers one of the most dramatic vantage points in Sri Lanka. From a sheer cliff drop of some 1,200 m (4,000 ft), the view encompasses almost the entire park. Hike the moderate 4 km (2.4 mi) trail from the entrance to the park's highest point, looping round Baker's Falls for the full 9.5 km (5.9 mi) experience. For the best views, plan your trip for early morning, when clouds are least likely to spoil the vista. Take plenty of water and snacks, and dress in layers against the chilly high-elevation conditions. • Needs a full days to go around the World's End. Lot of walking, may be close to 15 kms, but the paths are not difficult to go around. Need good conformable, not slippery shoes.
  • The walks or hikes in the Horton Plains are worth a visit. Better to leave early to attend the sunrise on the spot. Attention: at the entrance of the Park, drastic search of all the bags, in order to avoid anything that is plastic. This means separate from all packaging (cellophane around the toast, juice cartons,...), but also of its chewing gum (even the one already in the mouth!). Only one bottle of water is permitted. As the World's Ends (there are "little" and the "great"), all offer beautiful views of the landscape.

  • Incredible beauty. As a wildlife lover very much, if it was still less tourists, that generally would be paradise. It is recommended to visit at dawn. Not so hot and very beautiful. Be sure to visit!
