Pedro Tea Factory , Nuwara Eliya
(3.8/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Take a guided tour through Pedro Tea Factory and wander around the plantation fields. Built in 1885, the factory still holds some of its original machinery, although all of the production processes take place at night, meaning you can't see them in action. Nevertheless, you can learn a lot about the history of the factory, the methods used to produce the tea, and, of course, sample some fine tea products at the end. Rest at the onsite cafe and take pictures of the area's lush green landscape. Using our world travel planner, Nuwara Eliya attractions like Pedro Tea Factory can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • We've looked at today the Pedro tea factory, has been despite Sunday, so that we could watch both the workers and the machines. Admission cost 200 LKR P.p.., and contained a 20 minute guide with a cup of tea. Compared to our previous visit to the tea factory in Ella (Halpewatte) this guide was unfortunately totally confused and little informative. Also the tea tasting was not helpful for laymen. The tea shop at Pedro also offers little choice. All in all, it was the short stay in order, but it's definitely better.

  • This is not a working factory and therefore not very interesting. They are more interested in selling the tea. Very disappointed. It should be classed as a poor museum.
  • Good explanations in the factory of the harvest to the finished product, pleasant and competent personnel.

  • One of olderst tea factory in sri lanka
  • A good place to visit on the way to the lovers leap waterfall. The ticket is only rp 200 and you will have a little tour and a coup of tea. But probably the best one is walking around the tea fields before arriving to the factory.
  • Lovely place where you can walk around freely in the tea gardens. Peaceful and cooling it is a great treat to explore. There is a teac shop with a variety of teas. And you are given tours of the factory too.
  • Amazing view of the tea estate. The tour was okay.
  • Definitely worth an interesting 30 minute tour of a working tea factory followed by a nice cuppa. Only 200rps too!
