Take a relaxing stroll through the immaculately maintained hilly terrain of Hakgala Botanic Gardens. Of the 10,000 species planted here, the large collection of various orchids and roses remains the most notable. Large crowds arrive here on the weekends, making for good people-watching, while weekdays offer some peace and quiet. Walking through the hilly landscape can get tiring; rent a caddy for an easier way to tour the grounds. • A very large garden, well laid out with a lot of variety of different plants, flowers and trees. We also meet a lot of birds and of course monkeys. Only downside the canopy of orchids which is not very diversified.

  • Very beautiful botanical garden with mature trees, and for the rest of the country of rather unusual vegetation. Well, the Fern has us jungle love (watch out for snakes). However, the entry for non-locals is absolute nerve - like at all public sites. Per person RS 1500, is 25 times as much (!) like for Srilankesen!
