  • We were 9 nights at the northernmost end of the Nilaveli beach. A beautiful beach with white sand and palm trees were lined with if he would be kept too clean. Most of the hotels clean up while their section, but depending on the weather and flow arriving at the next high tide of the next plastic mass. Nobody feels responsible for the areas between the hotels and that's why it looks like on a garbage dump. At least 60% of the waste are screw caps of plastic bottles. The rest is plastic waste of all kinds! A romantic beach walk looks different. To implement this as a paradise are not only but the hoteliers and authorities asked the population! It should take everyone all over the world to heart to avoid plastic, then there are also clean beaches and seas!

  • A few kilometres you can walk on the sandy beach, it's a nice walk to the downside are the plastic bottles and glass that litter the top of the edge of the sea, in front of hotels it is cleaned... there would be an effort to make this side , because the place is beautiful!

  • This beach looks like a giant trashbin off season... It is cleaned only in front of the biggest hotels. This might be different in high season though, no idea.  more »

  • Nice beach. Water is like a tank. So calm. But the place was too crowded. But we enjoyed. Better if the place is more cleaner.
  • It's a great beach with many locals playing and relaxing around. There are boats maintained to take people to pigeon island from Nilaweli. They provide life jackets, snorkelling gear and fins for people who are traveling to pigeon island.
  • Nilaveli is simply awesome!. I have visited Nilaveli many times with my family. It's a great place to play and have a bath.Beach could be crowded since lot of locals come here in some days.
  • One of the calmest and quietest beaches in Sri Lanka, I loved my stay there even though it was off season, the locals there are more friendly than the rest of the places and the prices are reasonable not so touristy.
  • awsome beach .. nice place to spend day .. enough space in beach
