  • Very good to visit, large to give yourself some time to be able to review the whole fort. Well worth a visit, just be careful if you have small children as there are some rather high drop points.
  • You don't need to drive, but if you are then you should stop by in Matara to look. The fort is in good condition. Inside is to find some information about the history and there are some archaeological finds. Admission is free, but you will be urged to make a donation.

  • It was built in 1640 by the Dutch. It is one of the best star forts, and unique star fort in Sri Lanka.
  • Great place, there is a saying that there is a secret passage starting from a tunnel under here to nupe dutch market well..
