Let the inside not as exciting as, say, the Hermitage or Louvre, but familiarity with a foreign culture is quite useful. A lot more interesting than expected! This place is not even listed on TripAdvisor attractions for Kandy. But I was surprised at how I lost 2 hours in this place engrossed in the history of Buddhism throughout the world. Every country with a Buddhist culture is represented here and each display was given a lot of thought and effort. Miniature scale models of the world-famous monuments to Buddhism (such as Burubudur and the Shwedagon Pagoda) along with artefacts or replicas of various Buddha 'relics' are on display along with sometimes exhaustive explanations about the spread of the different types of Buddhist philosophies. Truly fascinating and prepare to be astonished by what you may learn! Entrance fee: Rp500.
