Bahiravokanda Vihara Buddha Statue, Kandy

(3.5/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
You can't miss Bahiravokanda Vihara Buddha Statue, a huge concrete Buddha statue visible from most spots in Kandy. If you prefer to get close, climb the set of stairs up the hill to the statue's perch, where you can enjoy pleasant views of the city. Try to spot the lake, football stadium, and tea factory from your outlook. Some devotees may leave flowers or light oil lamps to worship at this attraction. Keep in mind you must remove your shoes to approach the statue, so take socks to prevent burning your feet on the concrete. See Bahiravokanda Vihara Buddha Statue and all Kandy has to offer by arranging your trip with our Kandy travel itinerary maker.

  • The buddha overlooks Kandy and is very well lit at night. It is quite a climb to get there but well worth it. Auto rickshaw good value. Be aware that the shoe man asks for payment so leave your shoes ...  more »
  • If you are Kandy, definitely head here. The place can be reached on foot (although it's quite a hill) or fat grease up for around 250 rupees from the city centre. The view is really beautiful and there is a reward for climbing the Hill:). The entrance fee was 250 rupees per person and shall comply with the rules for correctly selected clothing and wrapped. In any case, the cashier had the clothes on the lease. Before entering the stand with refreshment (water, coconuts, etc.)
