Jaffna Public Library in Jaffna, Sri Lanka One of Jaffna's most notable landmarks, it is run by the Jaffna Municipal Council. The library was built in 1933 and burnt in 1981. During the early 1980s, it was one of the biggest libraries in Asia, containing over 97,000 books and manuscripts. In 2001, rehabilitation of the library was completed, with new structure being built and new books received, although its old books and manuscripts were not replaced.

  • i lucked out arriving the day and time that the library was putting on a play, also i explored the building. very nice place and worth visiting. 
  • Calm and cool place. Love this place.
  • Built in 1954 a grand public library. Has some odd visiting hours 16.30 to 18.30 another place says 17.00 to 19.00. It has a well landscaped garden around it.
